In conjunction with the Two River Theater and T. Thomas Fortune Foundation, the Red Bank Library will present a book club on Gem of the Ocean, a play by August Wilson. Taking place in 1904, Gem of the Ocean follows Aunt Ester as she guides the first generations of African Americans tasked with defining themselves outside the horrors of slaver. We will discuss themes of cultural memory, community, ritual, and legacy within the play. This event will take place in the Two River Theater library, NOT at the Red Bank Public Library. Registration recommended. For more information, contact the Library at (73) 842-0690.
